| Better late than never; somehow The Perfect Girl got past me in January. This young people are so nice, it is a pleasure to read about them -- and those skirts and petticoats are pretty erotic, too. However, it is now five months later, Tytus. One might have hoped to read another of your creations by now. If nothing else, at least an interesting account of your nameless female protagonist, for whom you've created an interest in me. And what about their life together? -- Off to Vermont for a Civil Union certificate, I'd like to think -- good place to honeymoon as well. Thank you for this gentle piece. leah |

| The scale of this work is quite staggering. I thought the original ‘Hell Hath No Fury trilogy’ was an addictive piece of work that is a ‘must read’ within this genre, and was eagerly anticipating this follow-up but be warned, reading this takes serious commitment, with many well thought out explanations and scene setting requiring concentration on the part of the reader. I was not disappointed. One of the great TG characters, Elizabeth Bexley, has you guessing through the whole tale, as to whether she is simply evil and has turned into a benefactor. I think it was a bit of both, and the twists and turns in the plot is quite bewildering at times, and the cliff-hangers appear at just the right time to maintain the interest. The amount of detailed research clearly shows through and I much admire the amount of effort put into this, and for Darkside sustaining his interest for five years – I don’t think I could be that dedicated myself(!). All the favourite characters are there, along with a few new introductions, and I particularly liked Scott and the Senator, and the outcome regarding them. One of the most enjoyable aspects of this story is the fact that it stands alone without the TG aspect, although this provides the backbone to the whole story. In my mind this is the mark of truly great TG fiction. Despite my elusive praise however, the story was not without flaw (IMO). The first third of part 2 seemed to drag a little, with the politics of what was going on threatening to overwhelm things for a while. I hung on in there though, and was glad I did as it soon picked up again and led to a very satisfying conclusion. To summarise : I really enjoyed this story and once started I could not stop. This causes another major gripe for me. It was so damned addictive that it stopped my own writing and left me with a huge back-log of other stories which have remained unread since then. Curse you for that Darkside, and thank you very much for a gripping tale. Can’t wait for the next one. |
