| What I really liked about the ending was the way it was left open ended, it gives us a chance to use our imaginations to decide if they can get back together. Will it be John or Joan in his future. I found the situations believable, the main characters well developed, I felt empathy towards the main characters. The fact that you made us care about the characters is the reason so many have commented on the ending feeling a bit rushed although I'm not sure what I would have done to avoid that if I were in your shoes. | Octavia Butler had a sci-fi trilogy that was along these lines: Dawn, Adulthood Rites, and Imago. In it, Earth was invaded/colonized by an alien race that genetically combined itself with whatever races it met. The men and women who were changed could no longer have sexual contact except with a member of the third sex as an intermediary. I think the third sex was called ooloi. At first, all of the ooloi were aliens. One of the books is about the first human ooloi. By the way, a good story. You could do a lot more with it. How does it feel physically and emotionally for this guy who has become the intermediary sex? How are his physical reactions to the opposite sexes different than before? What are the logistics of getting three people together in a configuration where the intermediary can get the male to the point of ejaculation while staying connected to the woman? |

| Dear Aleisha: Alot of what ceryann wrote I agree with. Where I part company with her is on the character developement. As i previously stated when the story line centers around love and compasion you have got me. This story goes a little farther down that road then Clarisse did. This shows your evolving writing style and character developement. I previously stated that i would like to see you finish your previous stories. I can wait as your style grows.
