Thoroughly enjoyed this story....especially liked that the transformation was forced and that the minds of those transformed were adjusted to totally accepting their changes. Story was well written...particularly that grammar was correct. Kudos!!

The story was okay. The first Token story was better.

This is not a review. This is the story of how I came to write Mercedes. About three years ago I discovered the internet and within six months I had discovered Alt.Sex.Stories.*. I have been off and on a professional writer, it is a terrible way to make a living unless you are one of the few who find a large audience and get paid well. Anyway, I am a writer. I write. Here was an outlet for writing that had no publishers, no editors. Obviously, because so much of what I read was so poorly written and poorly self-edited. So I wrote a couple of quick stories, actually rewrites of stuff I had sent to men's magazines. The stories were slanted for male audiences because that was my perception of who read "smut" on the internet. Then I discovered a.s.s.tg. First off, I noticed that the stories there were MUCH better written. On average, far, far better written and mostly at least minimally proofread. The stories were interesting, with interesting characters in sometimes hilarious and often sexy predicaments. There were a certain number of elements common to most TG stories, in short it was a genre and full o many stories that were written to patterns, formulas if you will. Nothing wrong with genre fiction or formulas; mysteries, romances and westerns are full of them, too. Besides, I had written for comic books, advertising and public relations, I have no shame. The level of writing still impressed me as being MUCH better than the average magazine slush (unsolicited submissions) pile. Not everything was good but almost everything was readable and much of it was good. In particular, one story stood out to me which I have since forgotten but I think it was Christopher Leeson's "Bobby McGee." I decided I would try writing a tg story. I dug out an old mystery novel I had started and examined it. A few twists and I had the first chapter of Mercedes, my first TG story, not much different from the first chapter of the unwritten mystery novel. More blatant sexual references, mostly. So, I wrote two more chapters of Mercedes over the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile I wrote another story and posted on ASS. I decided to post the first chapter of Mercedes as a spur to finish it. Then I would write a chapter a week and post one chapter a week. I had it outlined by then and knew it would be seven chapters long. I figured seeing it on the screen might help me work on it as it had turned out to be harder to write than I had thought. Chapter four went smoothly. The turning point in the story, from there on it was definitely going to be a tg story. The first three chapters were still a lot like a mystery story. I had decided to put as many of the elements I had seen in TG stories into Mercedes as I could. But I wanted it to feel more REAL than many of the stories I had read. The dream chapter would be the watershed. Then something odd started happening, I started getting fanmail. No one had commented on any of my other stories posted to ASS but the first chapter of Mercedes netted me about a dozen e-mails, all complimentary. Believe it or not, this made chapter five harder to write! Up until now, I had been writing as a sort of ten-finger exercise, now I had an audience. Of course, I had known that readers existed out there, I just didn't expect to hear from them so soon. This pattern continued, each posted chapter of Mercedes netted another dozen emails or so. Now I had to be careful, I had fans. I slowed my posting down to every two weeks to give me time to finish chapters since my method is to write, then re-write then re-re-rewrite. Maybe, I decided, this response was due to the episodic nature of my chapters. I had invented a technique I called a quiffhanger, each chapter ended just short of the climax of a sex act. Still, in any given month, I still recieve as much email about Mercedes as about any other story except the most recent and this after almost two years. But other stories written as quiffhangers did not get this response. Mercedes has as much fanmail as all the rest of my ASS* writing put together. Maybe tg fans are just more vocal than other readers. Or maybe Mercedes is just BETTER than anything else I have written. Maybe it is. Morgan Preece

This story has TONS of great moments ... it's a classic. Sure, there are a couple minor details I could quibble about ... but by and large, this is DEFINITELY one of the great TG stories out there, in my humble opinion ... KUDOS!!!
