| Another penis symbol all too common in the world we live in is the loaded gun. The poet should have said Transgendered... it's a fine distinction to those outside the community and huge one to those inside it. Most transsexuals do not find their male organ erotic, in fact many find it offensive. To associate transsexuals with the very thing that denies them full belonging to that which is most important to them is no subtle insult. Don't get me wrong... showering love on the penis, is fine. Celebrating the Transgendered is wonderful. Celebrating people who like the complex samba of mixed gender existence and all it's multivaried splendor, is devine. Just please be careful when you include Transsexals in the conversation. There are a whole lot of folks who objectify transsexuals. They do so in exactly the same way that all women are objectified in gross pornography, and prositution, and these women are often victims of horrible abuse. The whole idea of reducing human beings to a fetish, is more than just a little creepy to me personally. The whole shemale, chicks with dicks, mentality kind of misses who transsexuals are, and what they want to be. This is not surprising, because the men who market the whole idea are more interested in selling the "product" than worryinng about how that image results in the use and abuse of young women. I personally say in a hospital at Stanford Medical, as a young transsexual died of AIDS she contracted doing X-Rated Shemale movies. It's a wonderful thing, for a transsexual to be treated as women... it's sad when the only way that some people can accept transsexuals as women, is as sexual cannon fodder like all the other poor young women exploited by the sex trade. I ask those who have acceptance and love for women of gender variance, to go a step further and think about what would honor those women. Finding them erotic, is fine, that's perfectly fine... reducing them either in heart or deed to "fuck toys" is dehumanizing to all people. I'm not saying that's what happened in this drabble, but this drabble provides an important chance for the air to be cleared... for consideration and acceptance to be addressed. Be considerate... Whoa! I wandered onto this story by accident, but I'm quite impressed. I was thinking of e-mailing the author just to say I enjoyed it, but this review thing seems like a pretty cool idea. So here goes. No Special Effects is a very special story. I was very suprised and happy to find that the author doesn't focus on the sex scenes like so many others. Rather, the focus is on transgender and the feelings that the main character has towards that. One thing I really liked was the way that Nick changed into a girl. I like that he chose to be a girl and how he kept saying that it felt natural. That is exactly the way I'd imagine it feeling. It was pretty cool how it didn't happen quickly either. Nick had time to assess how he felt about the whole thing. I liked the interaction between Nick and Neera. Neera seems to act like a real girl would. Or at least like I wish one would. :) I was almost in love with her myself. I noticed when Nick's mind took over in the story because he started talking so eloquently. At first I thought maybe he was just really eccentric, but then at the end you learn that it was all in his head. Wow! That was so cool. So in conclusion, I think this is one of the best TG stories I have ever read. Usually when I read a TG story, I don't like something about it, but everything about this story is good. I think that this story should be a role model for all other TG stories. Leviathan |
