| An extremely fitting and satisfying tie-in to "Everyone Deserves a Happy Ending" and "Just Another Love Story". Poetic justice for having so brutally attacked Samantha so many years before. | Nitpicking: lay/lie confusion in first sentence. There are assorted little blunders in punctuation, sentence structure, and more (e.g., your/you're) but nothing very bad. I blame schools. The language is nicely simple and clear -- an uncommon virtue these days -- but sometimes almost too much so, as if the characters have vocabularies a size too small ("witch stuff'). (The antihero might be ill-read, and the witch talking down a bit to her new daughter.) A book ten thousand years old would be a scroll. Maybe it has enough magical power that it changed itself into a modern-style book a thousand years ago, just to fit in among other books. The witch could bring that up in passing if she talks about the book again, though that's not vital. |
