| Nothing happens in this "episode". It feels like a scene from another, longer story, and certainly not like the fast-paced, TV series that inspired it. Not that a written story shouldn't concentrate on the characters' inner voices a bit more, but this is still Classic Trek - there should be aliens and unexplored planets and action and adventure if, as Caleb suggested, the idea is to create a "fourth season". Spoilers (such as they are) below: Also, by the time Kirk gets off the turbolift, it's as if some kind of switch has been flipped, and suddenly he's thinking of himself as a different person. There's no compelling reason given for this, and it's also much to early in the "season" for Kirk to be so accepting. It seems abrupt and deprives other writers for this universe the chance to really use his discomfort at the situation. |
