| Compared to the first version, this has much more foreshadowing, and the conspiracy is more solidly established and believable. The hypnosis was clearly used to subtle effect (in training Jackie, in manipulating him toward feminine tastes, etc.) Now that he is aware of that angle, I think its effectiveness should fade (of course, the damage has been done). As to the future course (here come my personal preferences): 1) Obviously Jackie will end up becoming a woman (hey, this IS FictionMania) 2) Jack will initially start with the procedure, he's in a bind at the moment, but he'll plan to escape things later. After all, how bad can it be to take the pills for a few weeks while he works out a counter-plan? 3) Jack needs to find his own source of confidence and power. Oddly enough, surprising him, he will find that as a *woman*. Perhaps a lesbian lover, perhaps a man who accepts his situation and falls for him, perhaps just realizing that he likes how people treat her now. 4) Jackie should to reach the point where she can go either way, unravelling and mastering the tools used against her: the hypnosis, the training, whatever was done to her testicles, etc. She should reach a pinnacle where she could go either way... then chose for her own reasons (love perhaps?) to make the commitment to become a woman and mother. 5) As Jackie takes control of her own destiny, those who conspired against her CAN'T be happy. After all, their goal was to torment her. So they'll step in again. This is when the new, more confident and capable Jackie will have to prove herself. 6) In the end, Jackie should triumph, reveling in her womanhood and motherhood; Lisa, Nadine, a hynotist couple, and all other conspirators should lose whatever it was that they truly valued. Whatever you do, whether you end up pleasing your readers or disturbing them, the original and this rewrite are obviously powerful works to judge from the strength and quantity of the feedback. Excellent job! |
