Something about Key West as a setting seeems to bring out charmingly innocent and altogether delightful first encounter TG tales! I agree with Cute Little Thing's comment wishing that the girlfriend (how easily transposed into a wife!) had set Sam up -- that's how I would have done it. The Nair episode an accident? Humph! (Though it is ingenious!). But no matter. This is a world without guile, where all things be and agree. I also agree with Paul that the evolved lesbian desires portrayed are as persuasive as the gay desires that evolve. You took a chance with David, leaving him straight EVEN in Key West, but it worked. Two minor points: Sam's repeated refrain "I would have socked him" is excessive yet thin, It might be as Jennifer implies but never says a kind of femininity in denial, disguised as hypermasculiny, in which case he should struggle more before accepting the inevitable and surrendering to it (with all the more joy and relief after a lifetime of shamed denial, maybe). Also, the story's paragraphs are MUCH too long. Breaking each line of dialogue into its own paragraph would give you opportunity to play more with the way things are said and heard, and what's speakers and listeners are doing in response (gestural language). Broken dialogue (see any novel for the conventions) also provide oppty to establish rhythms of repartee and conversation that can have eloquence in themselves.A lovely tale. |

OK, I never add a review to these stories, but I just HAVE to say that this is the BEST story I have ever read! I honestly came in my blue jeans, at a public computer, while reading this! Why can't everyone just write stories in minute detail about turning into a woman! Incredible. |

Waldo's usual top of the drawer writing, well thoughtout characters, with a great ending with a barbed hook. |
