| Altered Fates: What Friends Are For Details |
| Interesting story, good writing, characters handled very well. It's a promising start, definitely. However, it would be advisable to do a little research, especially on historical end geographical facts. If your story is supposed to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, then there's no way you could put in elements from the Inca culture, as there were never any Incas at all in that country! Furthermore, the Incas never developped any writing system, so their temples don't have inscriptions, pictographs or glyphs of any kind. Also, Brazil was never conquered by Spain, but rather by portuguese settlers. Of all South American countries, Brazil is the only one where people speak portuguese, and not spanish(there IS a difference, apparently...) My suggestion is that you try shifting your story to some Central American country, like Mexico or Guatemala, and change your 'Incas' to either Aztecs or Mayans; both cultures were highly advanced and had elaborate writing systems. This would certainly give your story more credibility, without compromising the action. In any case, thank you for a very enjoyable read. Am looking forward to seeing the rest of it. | This is one of the best short stories I've read in a long time. The characters are so strong that they dominate the plot--making their development all the more satisfying. Although the sex is certainly enough to justify the rating, there's not so much as to be overpowering. It's almost what a friend of mine would call "cute sex". I'd call it sweet. And I hope it stays that way. (Another reviewer has asked that more "humiliation" be added. Please don't! The story so far leaves me caring so much about the characters that I want to see them grow into a sort of dizzying joy. A sex/humiliation scene just for the sake of itself would remove a lot of the value this story has for me. When the story's finished, I'd like to be able to give it to my "cute sex" friend and have her smile and sigh happily at the end.) |

| This is in answer to your review of my parody (in the 16th century meaning) of this story. So sorry I picked on you! After reading a spate of dark to the point of black stories where the husband is meanly (as opposed to lovingly) forced to become a woman, I just picked your story as a jumping off point for my story. Yours was simply the last one I read and very similar to the rest, and you were damn tough on your character with very little justification. Look, I know it’s probably your fantasy – and judging by the fans you have, appealing to many – you’re welcome to it. I tried to give a whole different slant starting from where you left off, I could have done my same story based on seven other hastily crafted stories I’ve recently read. Yours was simply the last. I don’t apologize for that. I do apologize for using your title and back plot. Though today I found no fewer than 53 stories, in a quick net search, with the same title. Many of which are different and predate your effort and mine. If you want, I will ask Mindy to pull my story – I have posted it nowhere else. I would have written this directly to you, but you didn’t leave your email address where I could find it. Your choice baby. |
