| I was just reviewing all the older stories on-line to see what people had thought about them when I saw that no one had bothered to comment on this excellent story. Call me weird, but I loved this story when I read it. It is perverse, creative, sexual, entertaining, most of all just hot. Usually I just skip right over sci-fi or magical stories, but this one has a wicked streak that places it up there with my all time favorites. This is a terrific story Irving, and it is shame more people haven't commented on it. |

| I had just arrived home after being delayed at school when my step mother walked in on me angrily and said, “what’s this, why aren’t you properly dressed...are you openly DEFYING ME! “Oh no mommy I protested” “Actually, it’s sort of your fault as I was kept after school for losing my report card, which you lost I could see that I had made a huge mistake as she glared at me angrily. “All right sissy boy, strip down completely, let’s see if you broke any of my other rules”. | A Nice Simple Job Details |
| Some people complained about the lack of plot, but it wasn't a problem for me... I was instantly captivated and couldn't stop reading. The relationship with the teacher was well... no really my taste and should have had some implications on the story. I thought the idea of atheists fanatics really awesome. The christian lunatics in witchcraft stories get a bit old... They show that a lack of believe in gods doesn't make you more sane than the rest of humanity. Just consider the atheist radical vegetarians... I guess their hatred for magic became their replacement for a religion. In the end this was an awesome story, I hope I understood your implications in the introduction correctly and you're working at a sequel for the academy - that would be awesome too. | For what it's worth, I LIKED what I read. The "dialect" does make reading this story considerably more difficult, but it also enhances the point of the story in a way that I enjoyed. I would suggest though that this is only a portion of a more complete story -- perhaps a prologue that leads up to the Valley Girl talk might help? I like the story ... but I think there's more to be told, and an easier to digest "hook" at the beginning might enable more people to understand and therefor appreciate the story. Just my two cents worth (but please don't give up writing in experimental formats!) |
