| The story continues to develop beautifully - as indeed of course does Jack! A smart move too to deal upfront with the obvious objection to the believability of the tale. Any reader is bound to have been asking the question posed at the start - and the answer given, even if not completely convincing, does at least have a foundation in what we’ve been told about our protagonist. What makes everything work though is the strength of the bond with Colleen, the way she so plausibly carries Jack along with her - and her enthusiasm for the clothes and footwear that so perfectly gels with that of the reader. We’ll, this reader at least! |
