| Dear Karen - first of all, a huge 'Thank you!'to you for your massive effort. It took me weeks to read, over some very pleasurable evenings. I sympathize with your desire to be published, but honestly - if I was a publisher, I would turn you down. Even though you have a story to tell - and a great story it is - you don't know the rules of grammar well enough. Anyone reading your story will come across some glaring mistakes in the first couple of pages, and most think; 'If the author hasn't the sense to correct the obvious grammatical mistakes, he probably hasn't the brains to tell a good story.' In your case, they would be wrong. You have talent. Tons of raw talent. You just need someone to edit your work, to show you your errors and correct them. | This is so freakin' bizarre! I mean, I liked it (parts of it cracked me the hell up, in a good way) and all, but it had this nightmarish quality, like maybe it was dream inspired or something. And maybe because I watched "Election" last night, I kept picturing Meredith as Tracy Flick, played by Reese Witherspoon. Which more than doubled the weirdness. Yeah, it'd probably be easier for Trac- uh- Meredith just to sell the magazines herself, but I like it better this way. Because it's so... freakin' bizarre. Hey! Write another Meredith story, and have her doing something else, and keep her all persistant and kinda strange! Ja mata! |
