| Yes, there are rules for fiction on this site. You can't advertise a product you are selling, you can't copy something word for word and post it as your own, you can't glorify child abuse, you have to give the site some contact info before you can post a story. Those are only a few of the rules that are enforced. If there was a rule against using a fictional item any way you want to help your plot move forward, then Talea would be taking this story down. And of course, that isn't going to happen, because that's not one of the rules. This author was in a no-win situation. Write this story the way he did, and people complain he didn't follow their rules. Give his magical item a different name, and people would complain that he was ripping off that zulu medal. Well, I say that the person who first wrote about that medal ripped off the person who first created the "Magic Wand", but she didn't follow the rules. Everyone knows that a magic wand is long and skinny, not round and shiny! Sounds silly, doesn't it. |
