| Carrie: This story -- Erotisphere -- is just about as perfect a story as I have read in a long time. There are SO many aspects to it; I've read it now at least five times and, each time, I catch something new, some subtle nuance that I'd missed before. The feel of this piece is quite Victorian. And, were it not for the few anachronistic elements -- battery-powered saw, telephone, aircraft -- it could easily be set in that era. The style, as pointed out elsewhere in these reviews, is quite Lovecraftian. This story asks as many questions as it answers. That is both good and bad -- good for you, the writer, because it lets you develop more stories in this scenario; bad for us, the readers, who now have to wait until you feel so moved as to grace us with another tale. In fact, this story really could be viewed as the springboard for a new universe . . . the "Erotisphere Universe." What do you think? Are you willing to open it up, or do you want to keep it closed until you've told your set of stories? This story gets my highest recommendation. Carrie, you've done yourself proud! Keep up the EXCELLENT work, my dear! Also, my kudos should also go out to both Janice Dreamer and to your "anonymous editor" for whatever contributions they provided in helping you bring "Erotisphere" to light. |
