| Okay, now that that's out of the way, my thoughts. This was a mushy story, if I may use that term, a story about noble self-sacrifice with a regretful ending. Oddly enough, though, despite my aversion to such stories, I liked it! Well written, I guess, if cheesy. |

| Dear Rikki: You have your reasons for ending the story and moving on. I respect that. It's not easy to explore the reaches of the human condition that make us uncomfortable and tweak our sensibilities, perverted as they may seem (or not). I've only once responded to a story with concerns, and then I simply read on when I felt like it and let the matter take its course - being none the worse for the tweak I found. Rather, I was encouraged to get under my peevishness and discovered I just wasn't that entertained, being able to handle that as many other things in life similarly occurring. I wish you well and understand you decision as given, which seems intended to mollify your 'sensitive' critics (I doubt that will occur due to anything you will do). But fair enough! Though I leave you with a question and no answer is sought: Does creativeness serve as the supplicant to a puritanical mistress of convention however conceived (Mapplethorpe comes to mind)?
