| A good concept and a good story, but you should consider taking a machete to the body of the text. Remember, not everyone's well-versed in basketball lingo, and realistically the first seven paragraphs could have been condensed to three. If you want to go really far, almost all the necessary information for that entire section could have been covered in a single sentence: "After our star player got hurt in the middle of our third game of the season, I spent the following three quarters struggling to get the most out of the rest of the team." Granted, that's extreme and I don't recommend it per se, but try to figure out what elements from each scene really have a connection to the next part, which elements truly connect to the reader. Remember that that's important in a story like this is what's going on in the narrator's head. What are his conflicts. You should less describe what's going on, and more describe why your narrator *cares* about what's going on. That's what makes a story interesting. But like I said, I liked the story and I hope to see more from you in the future :) |

| You should seriously consider self publishing 'The Crossing' as an ebook on Kindle. It's easy and would earn you a little on the side. With such a lack of good TG literature, your story would be welcomed. As an aside, look at the Kindle ebooks entitled 'A Lion in Waiting', 'Caitlin', and 'No Greater Love.' You'll find your story is very much in line with them. Any who, good story. I enjoyed it immensely. |
