Excellent! It reminds me of a really great Nivenesque%0aSF story. Or even Heinlein; this is a killer story!%0a%0aMy favorite bit is the realization Leon/Noel makes at%0athe very end. A poor writer would just blab it early,%0aBUT a good writer uses subtlety to get the point across.%0a%0aCristopher Leeson is one of those 'good writers.'%0a%0aAnd that is all; no excess praise, just simple truth. |

The dialogue in this story rings true--it appears the author spent a lot of time polishing and repolishing, and it shows. There were several interesting twists--using the sister, Jenni, as a means of introducing Dale to crossdressing via her love interest on the Internet was quite interesting. The other twist, the catch of student registration, was also an interesting avenue that essentially "locks" Dale into her future path. However, the Doctor's pretext of not being able to examine Dale without breasts seemed to be pretty thin--"hey, I know a special program that can get you implants." That is a bit of a stretch. One also is left with the impression that the self-hypnosis tapes have done a pretty good job--this is not specifically stated, but one could infer that. A nice touch is the downplaying of the physical changes, per se, and a stronger emphasis of the emotional elements of Dale. This is a well crafted story, and the author is to be complimented on the excellent use of dialogue. It really does read as fairly believable (except for the business with the Doctor). Jenni certainly does come across as a sympathetic, but yet plucky, character. The reader is really rooting for her, via Dale, as the life she wishes to have lead is, in effect, transferred to Dale. In the end, though, she emerges as her own self, as she consumates her relationship with John, and Dale emerges as a new person in her own right. It would have been nice to have done just a bit more with the self-hypnosis tapes, to perhaps have better caputured the mental changes that were being introduced to Dale, but that is a somewhat minor point. All in all, an excellent read! |

I think the part about the adopt a friend is kind of dum thats like something out of Even Stevens and I think that you should have had a better plot and ending than you did. |
