An interesting piece, and I also am glad that someone has been brave enough to post something on the theory/psychology behind writing erotica - I've been contemplating doing something along those lines but couldn't figure out how to crowbar in the transformation sequence/sex scene. Having said that I am very dubious about the suggestion that viewing enough pornography will tend to make one bisexual. Partly because I think such things are at least partly innate, but also because - to put it bluntly - the majority of pornography is made to satisfy heterosexual males. If you're a regular user of mainstream porn, I think you're probably also the kind of person who'll be less likely than average to entertain any thoughts of sexual experimentation. The aggressively male culture where this kind of porn circulates treats any kind of male-on-male sex as a taboo. And as far as encouraging the viewer/reader to identify with the woman in a sex act... have you considered how women are generally portrayed in hetero porn? They are generally submissive, thick, wholly dependent on the man. (I exclude dominatrices as that kind of thing isn't really mainstream.) I can't imagine anyone wanting to identify with them as they are a (male) fantasy. Things may be different in other kinds of pornography, and when it comes to erotica it's a whole new ball game, of course. But in any case a very interesting and refreshing article. Bravo.

Jessica, this is such a pleasant read. I’m cuddling in the couch, under my fav blanket, reading your work that compares favorably with one of the many romance novels that are filling my Kindle. You’re making your story so real with characters, dialogue and situations that are lifelike. I enjoy the almost leisurely pace, and unlike many stories I’m not rushed to get to the “ good stuff”. You know what I mean. That makes the live scene with Emily and Duncan all the more satisfying. I’m so happy for Emily with her commercial success and the possibility of movie work. I’m rooting for her, cheering her on. Since she’s also a savvy lady she’s hoping to put money aside for her surgery which is all the more reason to pray for her success. The sense of drama over Emy’s status as a bridesmaid has got me biting my nails. I’m anxious for her. Love to see her in her gown, and I know I’d share in her excitement.
