| I really like the idea behind this story, as well as the first one. Like others, I don't like the forced ending, allthough I did feel it fit into the story. Cara was, to me, obviously a morally deficient person. The mere fact that they were sent to this world without so much as a briefing was enough to let on that something was not right (and then either with the story or with the people, in this case the people). What I don't understand about either the first story or this one is the ethics behind the Company. It is implied that the company doing this comes from a 'better' world. They have less wars and better science. However, in the first story the male character was changed to make him be in love. The second story involved not only a corrupt woman, but also implied high level corruption in the company. And why does the company even operate on other worlds? They can simply make money by rewriting that worlds history. This implies either an ethical limitation on why they don't or some other reason. I feel that this is an unresolved issue. Personally I think it would've been better to leave the Company on a moral high ground, while still leaving room for individual corruption. |

Two, small, nits-to-pick: I would have liked to have seen more description of the clothing Tom had to wear with Miranda's body...that would have rounded out this story nicely. Also would have liked to have read a tad more of Tom's encounter with "her" girlfriend, Stacy, and how "she" felt dealing with her. |
