Altered Fates: Farmers Daughter     Details
I loved this, even though its more of a set-up for a story to come. Very well done, well written, and a good scene setter. I liked the use of parens and italics to set off 'internal dialogue', as its called in the writing trade, from the main character. With such a good start, one can hope the author will be able to "follow through" with as good a story as the beginning seems to suggest. Oh, yeah...the one image presented to us doesn't seem to match the story, in my opinion. The story portrays a fairly young girl, perhaps in her teens, while the image seems to be that of a more mature woman, more in her late 20s-early 30s. Perhaps the author can resolve this discrepancy in future episodes, and identify images that more closely match the girl portrayed in the story so far. Cheers, - Paula

The Clothes Make the Man     Details
Nice effort, Mysterious Stranger. However, I feel this poem could benefit from a rewrite and some editing and polishing. You left in a few minor typos and spelling errors. Your rhyming strikes me forced and artificial in places, and sometimes seems as though you added a word simply because it rhymed, even if it didn't particularly fit into the story you're telling. The same applies to your rhythm scheme: some lines are substantially longer or shorter than others, forcing the reader to make awkward pauses to make lines "fit." That being said, this is a good, interesting topic, and clearly you put a large amount of time and effort into composing this poem. I appreciate that enthusiasm, and I'd echo one of the earlier reviewers and agree this is reminiscent of Dr. Seuss's "The Sneetches." Despite my largely mechanical gripes, I enjoyed your efforts. Thanks for sharing.
