| I agree with Sissy Abigail who is a special friend of mine. She is adorable and like me Wants to get into that trunk full of ladies things. My only criticism is not based on the actual Fabrics worn at the time but even though it might be a bit anachronistic, I do wish the undies Were taffeta as they would feel so feminine…and whisper the girly frou-frou announcing our Commitment to feministy. | This story was alright. It was an attempt to be humorous while sending a message about hate. Hatred of "the Other" no matter what that other actually is. As for the person who felt it heavy handed and "anti Christian and Republican" well, so what? Let's jus' take a teensy peek at just who the haters actually are, and . . .Oops they turn out to actually, truly be loudly self proclaiming Christians and Republicans. Oh, of course not ALL of them! (Let's counter the silliest and most common retort to the above.) No! Just a very large and loud and vicious and active bunch of them. Again, the story was alright. The pickle the protagonist was in was cleaver and interesting and, while the resolution of this problem may have been dark, it was believable. The major problem with this story was that it was very dated in many of it's references to both technology and popular culture. This dragged on the narrative quite a bit. (I think I read a warning about this problem in a writing manual somewhere warning against pop culture references and being too specific with technology. Something like that, but I can't remember it clearly. Oh well . . . ) It passed the time and, for when it was written, it was a fine piece of work. Sylvan |
