| He should thank them for turning him into cattle? I understand the "carrot and the stick" idea, but there is no carrot. If he is so important to them, why treat him like a piece of meat? The offer of living forever is more of a punishment than a reward, if they just remove speech and limbs at will. He isnt part of the crew, just bio machinery. Sometime in the next 50 or so years he will go wacko and throw himself off a high place or somesuch. Oops, voyage over. What is his liver doing with all the drug interactions? A voyage of a million years with every day like this? Death is preferrable. |

| I bookmarked the story soon after it hit the archive and have returned to it again and again! Sort but sweet, and the involuntary change of Carl was slowly told, though it could have been strung out even more for my taste. I also thought the inlaws as the "bad guys" was innovative. That made the story different enough from most of the similar genre stories. Great effort...lets see more stories involving the Mt. Olympus Co. |
