| this story had me by the heart from the first line. the use of "mister" for the hero's name throughout the story gave the daughter such an aura of innocence which countered beautifully with the father's caring and growing love for her. ms cassidy always writes about real people in the real world with real money issues and not the standard FM string of "money is no object" characters that you'll see time after time from other authors here. wealth takes a cd out of the world most of us inhabit and keeps us from identifying with those characters. like all her other stories i wanted more and hated to see it end. this would make a terrific screenplay! |

| Well, thanks for the great reviews guys. Respectfully, I must say that I appreciate them. You were kind enough to leave some reasonable thoughts. But at the same time, as I don't make any money off this writing, but instead do it as a means of scratching my own writing itch and sharing my stories with you, I say I don't really give a damn. The ones of you kind enough to leave reviews are nice, and I appreciate fans, as it makes me feel good to know someone else gets it. But when you go putting meanings and connotations in my mouth that I had no intention of putting out, then I have a problem. I've always said poets have the last laugh because people are going to wonder over their works for all eternity looking to see what exactly the poet meant. If you want to say that I disrespect women, okay, but I'm telling you're only mirroring what you want to say onto me and I won't have that. Write your own stories. This is the last time I'm going to address this. I write horror stories. To lose one's self or intelligence is to me demeaning and horrifying. As for this story, the curse 1.) would have been defiling to a man of old, as women I will agree don't warrant the amount of respect they deserve, and 2.) it represents horror to me and probably any other reasonable person. If I had said one just changed into a woman, people would've been far less disturbed. To say I meant any disrespect in my representation of the ditzy girl afterwards, it was only in a slight loss of intelligence which really wasn't connected to womanhood. I guess I should've added that into the explanation, and I would if I knew I wouldn't get another complaint about how I changed something. This story deserved development, and I gave it that. Though I doubt as the curse worked that his mother would've considered that an important part of the explanation, as she may not have realized the significance. If I mean anything offensive in my writing toward women, then I wouldn't be here, writing on a site that is all about the combination of male and female essence.
