| I've been reading TG fiction on and off for the last four years. During that time many stories have tried to attain the label of epic. IMHO only one, this one has ever made it. This is simply the best TG story I have EVER read. Others may contain more sex, fewer words or better writing but this by far and away towers head and shoulders above them all. The plots, Darkside's imagination and the characters in the story are simply mind blowing. It is a staggering achievment for a first story and I pay homage to Darkside's patience and ability. Without giving any of the plot away Darkside shows Tom Clancy, Michael Crichton and Dean R Koontz how it should be done! You can tell how much effort Darkside put into it, he says in the intro that it took five years to plot, plan and write, I believe it! As I read the story I wept, yes actually wept for the loss of dear loved ones, punched the air in joy and relief, laughed out loud at the 'in-jokes'(spot the friends spoof) and held my breath in fear a chapter or so later. In short, this story affected has me like none others ever have. What's more it has simply the greatest TG protagonist and femme fatale I have ever read about. Her name, Dr Elizabeth Bexley and she makes Catherine Tramell(Sharon Stone's Character in Basic Instinct) look like Julie Andrews. I thought to myself I'll read a bit at a time over a few days but in the end read until I could read no more and had to sleep. This story consumed my waking thoughts, haunted my dreamsand continues to do so even now. All I can say is, read it, all of it. I promise you, you will never be the same again. |

| I thought this was better than the Ladd's Exchange series in that it concentrated on far fewer characters and tried to develop them a little more. The writing was also improved and the magical side was handled very well IMO. The plot was far easier to follow although, ultimately, it still suffered (for me anyway) from being a little predictable again. By the end of the second part it had lapsed into predictability and I finished it, mainly because I felt that if I had got this far I might as well! I am looking forward to the next one though, if they keep improving as they seem to be. |

| quite good but hardly finished. A 13 yr old boy in a 7 yr old body with a senile grandmother. Is it the mothers plan to have her mom pretend? or is she reaLLY senile. This kid cant seem to get a break!!!! |
