I liked the story, especially the salon details, except for two things. Samantha being mean and controlling to Carol made no sense since it had already been established that the two were friends and that Samantha "really liked" Carol. The ending was too predictable and too abrupt. A nice twist would have been to find that John was really blameless, and what happens then?? |

I like this...but somehow I wonder if it might not have worked better had it gone along the lines of "The Paralegal," where the chauvinistic Doctor is kind of forced by circumstance to assume a nurse's role. Another problem not of your making, but the "I'm traditional" explanation of his garb kind of stretches the bounds of reality, something unusual for your stories. Wonder if it might not have been more effective to set it in a nursing home where, say, the patients expect nurses in traditional uniforms. I love what you do but this wasn't quite up with the others. |

This is an amazingly good story. If it was published on Amazon I'd add it to my library as quick as I can hit "Buy now with one click". I have to admit I almost passed it by though. The blurb for the first 5 chapters just tells me that it's about a computer hacker and a different existence... which could have easily meant a sci-fi dystopian future cyperpunk type deal, one of my least favorite genres. Luckily, this story has almost nothing to do with hacking and everything to do with a journey of discovery. I'm highly impressed as to how character motivations are worked in. Makes them pop right out of the page. Also good is how Alexia actually manages to plan ahead... except for where she can't accept the truth. And honestly, how she expects to leave her new family behind is just crazy. Denial! In any case, I'm looking forward to more, and will now have to take a look at Severance Pay. |

Finally! A story well-structured story filled with a great deal of description that hasn't since become cliche. The only downside to this story is that the ending was a little to trite, and tied things up too neatly. |
