| If the secret to a young mans heart is through his stomach, you'll find yourself burping after this one! I can certainly appreciate the author's use of cooking and eating as a means of expressing the boys effeminate nature, but honestly.... with so many other tools available, the boys culinary interests seem abit over done. Might I suggest building on the masculine tendencies of the "Aunt's" you've already established to help strenthen the contrasts between his fiminitity and her masculinity. Another idea to consider is to plant a bit more mystery into the mind of the boy about the nature of becoming a girl. You've already done it so some degree, but so far, all the mystery is desolved by his intellectual maturity; which is far over done! Remember, he's only 11, and the joy is in the discovery of the unknown. I enjoyed reading the story, it was well written and I encourage the author to continue on. However, it I read one more of those elaborate cooking scenes, I'll have to go one a diet! Joe |
