Random Reviews

This is a delightful series, in spite of the fact that the third part, now on Storysite, adds a melodramatic turn of events. Keep on writing, this is going to be a wonderful series.
Double Take, Part 2: Summer Girl, Fall Guy     Details
What a wonderfully over the top story. Must admit the thought of actually being the Mistress who would not let him touch me, then let him see me dressed in my feminine finery whilst he is paraded before all the girls who he had "wronged" and finally feed him my special equipment hidden under my dress to complete his humiliation would add to the story. Love your description of the clothes and the teasing, as well as his thoughts and reactions to the different depths that he sank.

Ellie: I want to compliment you on the craftmanship of your short story. It is an extremely well written work of fiction. I enjoyed it IMMENSELY. For everyone else and especially Billie 2 Feathers: That being said.... Its FICTION. License is allowed. There is no "Black Mountain" Reservation (Sioux or otherwise) that I can find. Yes; "a berdache" (Ellie used it correctly, not "the Berdache"), is a generic term for a class of two spirited individual that is NOT unique to the Lakota Sioux. Yes; the lesson of the derivation of the word is Billie 2 Feathers gave us is correct. The French trappers that applied the word when they stumbled across the various tribal winktes (Sioux), nadles (Navajo), hee-man-ehs (Cheyenne), kurami (Apache), and We'wha (Zuni) used a word from their vocabulary. It stuck. It can be construed as an insulting term. Its just a word. Get over it. In fact, just like another minority group that shall remain nameless, SOME of us have actually reclaimed it as empowering. (Can you say the "Q" word or the "N" word?). As to what is a shaman? Again: generic term (although I've seen some references that claim that's what the Mojave Indians call two spirits). The registered trademark Shamen were from around present day Mongolia, but today many paths (including Celts, Druids, and Wiccans) will consider themselves "shamenistic" and therefore "a" shamen. Are two spirits always magically gifted with healing arts or leaders of their tribe? No. Can they be? Yes, more often than the norm. Some of them just settled down with the squaws, found a husband and helped raised the tribes' kids and kept hubby happy when he came home from the hunt. Others though, found the unique point of view and experience of encompassing BOTH genders helped them as spiritual counselors, leaders, or healers. If the tribes medicine "person" found a calling (and an aptitude) in the two spirit, they were groomed to carry on the tradition. You were chosen, YOU did not choose. Can you tell that I had an axe to grind? Well, I think perhaps Billie did too. Her comments are not so much about the story as her "hot button" issues. The story was excellent and you did fine. Don't worry about what toes you might have stepped on. Sometimes, that's what you are SUPPOSED to do, and its the highest testament when something you write provokes this kind of response. Carry on.
