The other reviews were less than enthusastic. What a shame. The story is well written. It is not that unbeleivable, either. Just look at those misguided souls who write viruses. Edwin Smuck is just like one of them. They sometimes go to jail when they are caught. Who knows, maybe they will have some one like Bubba for a cell mate? |

Wicked little story - I like multi body swap and this one is good with forced swaps. |

Let me say I enjoyed the story, at least insofar as the idea was concerned...on that, you really got me, especially how they figured out a way around having to lug around Gene/Jean's "lamp" (!!!!). How ingenious and cool! That said...I have the same criticism here as I have of the author's previous effort, "Heels". No matter how (s)he tries to explain it away with that meaningless prologue, the fact of the matter is this story could have used the services of a good editor. Way too over-written, *too* much dialogue, too much meaningless dialogue. And this story could have been about 2/3rds as long, and still would have worked. I personally don't know anyone who "speaks" like these two, much less a husband and wife who use the same euphemisms, etc. Again, an effort to "tone it down", and maybe, just maybe, take a clue from the end of this story, and write more like that...that kind of writing all through the piece would have done wonders for this story. My hope is that the author will take some of our suggestions to heart for his/her next story, and leave behind this rather immature, but failed, effort to be "different". As my grandmother said, its one thing to be different, as long as you are also *better*. |
