| JohnB I do believe, and I am almost 100% certain of this, that sex change operations on minors in the United States can be performed with Guardian permission when the victims gentalia have been mutilated in such a way as to make reasonable similar reconstructive surgey of how it pre-existed impossible/not reasonably usable. Sexual Reassignment Surgery of that nature falls outside of the US Medical Codes of a Standard set for for the Real life Test and psychological profiling and preparing of an individual for the normal SRS procedure. That clause is allowable so as to provide the child with the possibility of a USEFUL productive life as the other sex (usually only in the case of males being impaled: I cannot quote and do not know the need for females having to go to males in such instances in children). 3 days is rather a short stay - the usual is near 1 -2 weeks depending on complications and individual response to the operation as well as 6 - 8 weeks of dialater exercising afterwards in outpatient treatment, and hormonal prescribing for life. Many such cases are performed at Johns Hopkins University Hospital Maryland and a specialized SRS Facility in Denver Colorado. I am sure there are a few more, those are the two that I am immediately aware of. The procedure is very costly $20,000 - $30,000 and is painful and traumatic to individuals - even those that really felt the need and passed profiling.
